IND vs NZ: India lost Test series at home after 12 years, lost two consecutive matches on home soil for the third time in 25 years

The Awadh Times: News Desk- The Indian team has lost a Test series at home after 12 years. With this, this winning streak of 18 consecutive Test series wins on home soil has been broken.

With the win in Pune Test, New Zealand has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series. The Kiwi team won the first match played in Bangalore by eight wickets. There were high expectations from the Indian team for a comeback, but the Rohit Sharma-led team failed to do so.

Team India got caught in its own web. While in the first match, Team India collapsed in front of the Kiwi fast bowlers, in the second Test, the spinners silenced the Indian batsmen. In response to the target of 359 runs to win in Pune, Team India was reduced to 245 runs in its second innings and also lost the series.

The Indian team has lost a Test series at home after 12 years. With this, this winning streak was broken after winning 17 consecutive Test series on home ground. The last time Team India was defeated by England in 2012-13 in a four-match Test series was 2-1.

After that India won 18 consecutive series. However, New Zealand has now broken this streak by defeating Team India. No one had thought that the Kiwi team would perform so impressively on Indian soil. Along with winning the first Test, New Zealand won a Test match in India after 36 years. Now it has won a Test series in India for the first time.

The first Test between India and New Zealand was played in 1955 and for the first time in the 69-year Test cricket history of both the countries, the New Zealand team has won a Test series on Indian soil.

India has lost two consecutive Tests at home. This is also the first time since 2012 that Team India has lost two consecutive Tests on home soil. In 2012, England defeated India in the second Test played at Wankhede and the third Test played at Eden Gardens in a four-match series. This is the third time in 25 years since 2000 that Team India has lost two consecutive Tests at home.

Before New Zealand and England, South Africa had done this. It defeated India 2-0 in a two-match Test series in 2000. Then the African team defeated Team India at Wankhede and Chinnaswamy Stadium.

What happened in the match? IND vs NZ:

Talking about the match, New Zealand won the toss and batted first and scored 259 runs in the first innings. In response, India’s first innings ended at 156 runs. With 103 runs, New Zealand scored 255 runs in the second innings and gained a total lead of 358 runs. Chasing the target of 359 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored the highest 77 runs for Team India and Ravindra Jadeja scored 42 runs.

Apart from these two, no batsman could touch the 25+ mark. Rohit Sharma scored eight runs, Shubman Gill 23 runs, Virat Kohli 17 runs, Rishabh Pant was dismissed without opening the account, Washington Sundar 21 runs and Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed after scoring nine runs.

For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner took seven wickets in the first innings and six wickets in the second innings.
