Battleground states are won by Trump. Republicans capture the Senate by flipping two seats in North Carolina and Georgia.

In all three of his presidential campaigns, Trump won North Carolina, but this time he was able to flip Georgia. Nonetheless, Democrats continued to hold the governorship of North Carolina.

New Delhi: Vice President Kamala Harris is trailing Republican Donald Trump in the campaign for the White House, and Trump is predicted to win two swing states, Georgia and North Carolina.

With wins in West Virginia and Ohio, the Republicans also took control of the US Senate, guaranteeing that Trump’s party will hold at least one chamber of Congress in the upcoming year. As they fought to keep control of the House of Representatives, they also reported early victories.

The remaining swing states—Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada—cannot yet be called.

In order to go closer to 270 votes, which is the majority needed to become the next president of the United States, Trump is predicted to receive 16 votes from North Carolina and 16 from Georgia in the Electoral College. He may potentially recapture the White House with just a victory in Pennsylvania.

Georgia is taken from Democrats by Trump.

Georgia went blue under President Joe Biden in 2020, winning the state by roughly 12,000 votes, which led to a barrage of conspiracy allegations from Trump following the election.

The former US president, however, emphasized his economic message during this campaign and is probably going to win by a wider margin than he did in 2020.

The only Democratic candidates to win Georgia in the past 40 years were former presidents Bill Clinton and Joe Biden. In his 1996 reelection campaign, Republican nominee Bob Dole defeated Clinton, who had won the state in 1992.

North Carolina is once again devoted to Trump.

In all three of his presidential campaigns, Trump has won North Carolina. In an attempt to turn the state around, Harris’ presidential campaign made large investments in the state, which has been firmly Republican for the past 50 years.

Former President Barack Obama, who won by less than one percentage point in 2008, was the last Democratic presidential contender to win North Carolina.

Jimmy Carter in 1976 and Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 were two other Democratic candidates who won the state.

When Hurricane Helene hit the US at the end of September, the state was hardest hit. Following the storm’s devastation to the state, Trump and his crew allegedly disseminated false information on the federal and state governments’ efforts.

It is anticipated that Trump will increase his vote total from 2020, when he won the state by fewer than 100,000 votes. Trump was predicted to receive 248 of the 538 electoral votes, compared to Harris’s 214, as of 12:15 p.m. IST.

The defeat in North Carolina puts Harris’s path closer to 270. Trump leads by a slim margin in the other five battleground states, with the exception of Nevada.

Through early counting, the former US president has also had a lead in the popular vote of about four million votes.

Democrats hold onto the governor’s house in North Carolina.

The Democratic Party has been able to hold onto the governorship of North Carolina in a rerun of the last two election cycles. It is predicted that Josh Stein, the state’s attorney general, would easily defeat Mark Robinson, a Republican.

Stein will serve as the state’s first Jewish governor. In spite of Trump’s dominance in the state’s presidential polls, he succeeds Roy Cooper, the Democratic governor with a term restriction who won both the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Trump-endorsed Republican Mark Robinson was embroiled in a number of scandals in recent weeks, including calling himself a “Black Nazi” and making racist and divisive remarks on a pornographic website.

Although Robinson refuted the allegations, the state is expected to lose by about 14 percentage points.
