Jharkhand Election 2024: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, cast his ballot in the Hatia assembly constituency on Wednesday with his spouse, Sakshi.

Ranchi: On Wednesday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, and his spouse Sakshi went to the polling station to cast their ballots. To witness Mahi, a sizable throng gathered at the voting station.

Two rounds of voting were conducted for Jharkhand’s 81 assembly seats. On Wednesday, 43 seats were up for vote in the first phase. EVMs are being used by 1.37 crore voters to decide the fate of 683 candidates. Out of these, 68.73 lakh people are male voters and 68.36 lakh are female voters.
There are 303 voters of the third gender. There are 6.51 lakh voters between the ages of 18 and 19. Early in the morning, a large number of well-known individuals, political party leaders, and candidates for different seats cast their ballots at their designated booths.
VIP contenders in the initial round of voting
Former Chief Minister Champai Soren, six Jharkhand government ministers Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Mithilesh Thakur, Banna Gupta, Deepak Birua, Baidyanath Ram, and Ramdas Soren, former Chief Minister Arjun Munda’s wife Meera Munda, the daughter-in-law of Odisha Governor Raghuvar Das, former Assembly Speaker CP Singh, former minister Saryu Rai, former IPS Dr. Ajay Kumar, the national spokesperson for the Congress, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Mahua Maji, and former Chief Minister Madhu Koda’s wife Geeta Koda are among the main candidates whose fate will be determined in the first round of elections.
There are 17 general seats in this phase, while 20 seats are set aside for Scheduled Tribes and 6 for Scheduled Castes.
