RG Kar Rape and Murder Case: CM Mamata Banerjee said that we all had demanded the death penalty for the culprit, but the court has sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The Awadh Times, Kolkata: The court has sentenced the culprit, Sanjay Roy, in the case of the rape and murder of a female doctor in RG Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. Sealdah Court has sentenced the culprit to life imprisonment. Also, a fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed dissatisfaction over this decision of the court.

CM Mamata Banerjee said on RG Kar rape and murder case, ‘The responsibility of investigation was forcibly taken away from Kolkata Police. If Kolkata Police were investigating, the culprit would definitely have been sentenced to death.’ She questioned the CBI investigation in the RG Kar rape and murder case.
The TMC chief said that we all had demanded the death penalty for the culprit, but the court has sentenced him to life imprisonment. We were deprived of the case by force. Had it remained with the Kolkata Police, the culprit would have been awarded the death penalty.
