Automobiles with Manual Transmissions: Even though there aren’t many new vehicles with manual gearboxes anymore, the ones that do are some of the most alluring sports cars, sports sedans, and stylish hatchbacks available today.

TAT AUTOMOBILES: The top new vehicles that still have manual gearboxes in 2024 are listed below. Starting with our top performance vehicles, we also included several more reasonably priced and useful options later on in the list, including a couple SUVs with an off-road focus.

When appropriate, we indicated which trim levels or extras are necessary for the three-pedal vehicle along with the cost of the least costly model with a manual transmission.

2024’s Top 26 Automobiles with Manual Transmissions

2024 Porsche 911

Cost: $126,550 (Carrera T)

Porsche graciously kept the stick shift for the Carrera T, Carrera S, Targa 4S, GT3 (shown), and Sport Classic grades of their most recent 911 model. On these vehicles, a seven-speed manual transmission is a free option.

The manual 911s are far more fun, even if they are slower in a straight line than the models with an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic.

2024 Porsche 718 Cayman

Although Porsche’s mid-engine sports car lacks the horsepower to compete with the big-boy 911, some contend that its balanced chassis offers even superior handling.

With its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine borrowed from the GT3, the high-strung GT4 variant (shown) is one of our favorites. Fortunately, though, the manual transmission is offered throughout the board, from the basic four-cylinder cars to the highly sought-after GTS 4.0 flat-six vehicles.

2024 Porsche 718 Boxster

Cost: $72,050

Except for the absence of a roof, the 718 Boxster is mechanically similar to the Cayman. The flat-four and flat-six engine options, manual transmission options, and excellent handling qualities are all available across the lineup. Even the Boxster Spyder RS, which is shown above, is a hard-core variant.

2024 Lotus Emira

Cost: $107,750

Worried about fitting in with the Porsche crowd? The Emira is the ideal substitute offered by Lotus. Choose the gorgeous 3.5-liter supercharged V-6 engine from Toyota, which comes with a gorgeous six-speed manual gearbox. You’re sure to have a nice time if you add a winding road.

2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Cost: $30,170

Without the Miata, the greatest of the best, no list of new manual cars would be complete. The Miata’s six-speed transmission, which was specially designed for the driver’s enjoyment, is fantastic to use and far more captivating than the torque-converter automatic that is an option.

2024 Honda Civic Type R

Cost: $45,890

The greatest hot hatch currently available is the Honda Civic Type R. Its outstanding handling and six-speed manual transmission—possibly the best-feeling shifter available outside of the Porsche 911 GT3’s—are largely responsible for that.

2024 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing

Cost: $62,890

The CT4-V Blackwing is an incredibly fantastic vehicle, even if it lacks the distinctive V-8 of its larger CT5-badged sister. With the help of Magnetic Ride suspension and chassis adjustment, GM has created a four-door sports vehicle that is far more capable of driving than any new M3.

2024 BMW M2

Cost: $64,195

Fortunately, the fantastic M2, BMW’s smallest M vehicle, still comes with a six-speed manual gearbox. With a 453-hp turbocharged inline-six and rear-wheel drive, the most recent M2 model pays homage to the simplicity and fun of earlier M vehicle generations with its stick shift.

2024 Acura Integra and Integra Type S

The cost is $37,995 for Integra and $52,995 for Integra Type S.

The Acura Integra Type S, our 2024 Performance Car of the Year under $100,000, combines track performance, daily usability, and a great deal of driving pleasure.

This 320-hp hatchback with a standard six-speed manual transmission has the same mechanicals as the Civic Type R, but it is a little more subdued than the noisy Honda without sacrificing engagement. If you choose to go with the A-Spec trim level, the basic Integra is also available with a manual transmission.

2024 Toyota GR Corolla

Cost: $37,595

The GR Corolla fulfills the promise of a fantastic rally-inspired hot hatch, even though it isn’t the GR Yaris that we were all waiting for. The standard six-speed manual transmission that distributes the 300 horsepower of the high-strung turbo three-cylinder engine to all four wheels is largely responsible for our exhilaration.

2024 Hyundai Elantra N

Cost: $34,850

The Elantra N, along with the electric Ioniq 5 N, is carrying the torch for Hyundai’s performance brand after its hot-hatchback Veloster N and SUV Kona N rivals have been withdrawn. However, the only N vehicle with a manual gearbox is the Elantra sedan. For the regular six-speed gearbox, the shifter is excellent, but the clutch action may not be the best.

2024 Chevrolet Camaro

Cost: $32,495

The current-generation Camaro will be discontinued in 2024, so there is not much time left to purchase one. Although the basic V-6 and V-8 variants are available with a manual gearbox, we prefer the ZL1 1LE.

It blends the 650-horsepower V-8 engine of the C7 Corvette Z06 with a six-speed manual gearbox, as well as excellent suspension and lots of aero. It’s GM’s finest racing vehicle to date.

2024 Ford Mustang

Cost: $43,090

Although it is no longer offered on the basic EcoBoost grade, Ford has thankfully decided to retain the six-speed manual as an option for the 2024 Mustang. You will need to choose the GT and Dark Horse models, which feature a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, if you want three pedals. However, we still intended to get the V-8.

2024 Toyota Supra

Cost: $56,495

The resurrected Supra was only offered with an eight-speed automatic when it initially arrived at showrooms. Desperate for Toyota to add another pedal, devotees were agitated for years. In 2022, the business eventually gave in and offered customers a manual option for the 2023 model year. Only the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six is available with a six-speed stick; the basic turbo-four is still only available with an automatic.

2024 Honda Civic Si

Cost: $30,195

Don’t want to buy a Civic Type R for over $45k? You are not to blame. Based on the basic Civic car, Honda also produces the charming Civic Si. Its 1.5-liter turbo-four, which produces 200 horsepower, is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox that we adore.

2024 Subaru WRX

Cost: $33,855

Although Subaru no longer produces the superb WRX STI, the WRX is still available. The best entry-level AWD performance car, it’s a mainstay for enthusiasts who reside in snowy places.

With the exception of the highest GT model, which regrettably only comes with a CVT automatic, all trim levels are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four engine that generates 271 horsepower. For obvious reasons, we would choose the manual.

2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Cost: $33,910

Since 2024 will be the last year that the VW Golf GTI will be available with a manual gearbox in the United States, there has never been a better time to get one. While we regret the loss of the stick-shift in this exciting hot hatchback, VW is at least making a farewell to the manual GTI with the Edition 380 (seen here), which has a few cosmetic changes from the base model.

2025 BMW M4

Cost: $80,275

The BMW M4 with the optional eight-speed automatic is definitely quicker, but you want the six-speed manual. Since the six-speed only comes with the base 473-hp turbo inline-six, the stick-shift M4 is the least powerful M4. We believe you will have more grins, even if you won’t have as much horsepower as the M4 Competition, which has over 500 horsepower.

2024 BMW M3

Cost: $76,995

Do you require additional doors? With the exception of having four doors, the BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe are nearly identical vehicles.

Additionally, the appearance is a little different, with wider flares out rear to accommodate the large rubber. The powertrain selection is comparable as well; the more potent M3 Competition versions only come with an automatic transmission, while the base 473-hp M3 comes standard with a six-speed manual.

2024 Nissan Z

Cost: $44,110

Despite its controversial appearance, the Nissan Z is an alluring package. A two-seater coupe with a 400-hp twin-turbo V-6 that uses a six-speed manual gearbox to drive the back wheels? Join us. However, it is unfortunate that the more powerful NISMO variant is limited to an automatic.

2024 Mazda 3

Cost: $31,535

Only if you choose the hatchback body form, the basic 2.5-liter inline-four, and the well-equipped Premium trim level will Mazda’s elegant and enjoyable three-compact vehicle still come with a six-speed manual transmission.

Regretfully, neither the optional all-wheel-drive system nor the more powerful turbo engine can be paired with the stick shift. Having the option to move it yourself still makes us happy.

2024 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

Cost: $29,310

The powertrain of the Volkswagen Jetta GLI is identical to that of the GTI hatch. This translates to a six-speed manual transmission mated to a 228-hp turbocharged inline-four. Whichever body style you want, you’ll still have a great time because most of the driving dynamics are the same.

2024 Jeep Wrangler

Cost: $33,890

It’s hard not to suggest the Wrangler if off-roading is more your style. It has an outdated design and, in contrast to almost all other modern off-road vehicles, it is still available with a manual transmission.

The 3.6-liter V-6 engine choice is the only one with a manual transmission; the plug-in hybrid and turbo-four powertrains only have automatic transmissions.

2024 Ford Bronco

Cost: $41,525

With sleek, vintage style and a detachable top, Ford’s much anticipated Wrangler rival is an off-road beast. If you choose the smaller four-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual with a seventh “crawler” gear is also an option.

2024 Toyota Tacoma

Cost: $38,395

We are grateful that Toyota’s most recent Tacoma pickup truck model still comes with a manual gearbox. Only a few permutations are available to you, though: the three-pedal system is only available with the crew-cab design, and you must pick between the SR or TRD Sport trim levels and four-wheel drive. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine produces 270 horsepower when mated to a six-speed transmission.
