iPhone 16: So will the new iPhone be banned in Indonesia? Know what is the reason
iPhone 16 banned in Indonesia? Even on Apple’s official Indonesian website, the iPhone 16 or its new model is not being sold, indicating that perhaps a ban exists,
The Awadh Times Global News: Apple launched the iPhone new series a few days ago and it is also being sold in many countries of the world, but the story of iPhone new is different for Indonesia. The future of iPhone News in Indonesia remains uncertain.
There has been no official announcement of a ban on it from the Indonesian government, but according to reports from major Indonesian websites like Kompas.com, the sale of iPhone new may be banned.
New iPhone is not even on Apple’s website
Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita reportedly said that the iPhone 16 may not be allowed to be sold due to lack of certification, as Apple has not met the expected investment requirements.
Several major e-commerce platforms in Indonesia, such as Tokopedia, Blibli, and Lazada, do not list the iPhone new 2024, although its accessories are available on these platforms, but not the phone. Even Apple’s official Indonesian website is not selling the iPhone 16 or its new models, indicating that a ban may exist even if a formal government order has not been issued.

Controversy over investment
The whole matter is related to investment. So far, Apple has invested only 1.48 trillion rupiah out of the commitment of 1.71 trillion rupiah, leaving a shortfall of 230 billion rupiah. This shortfall affects the TKDN (local component level) certification, which mandates 40 percent local content for foreign devices sold in Indonesia.
Minister Kartasasmita told Kompas, “We, the Ministry of Industry, cannot issue approval for the iPhone 16 yet because Apple has yet to fulfill certain commitments.”
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently visited Jakarta and met with President Joko Widodo to discuss manufacturing possibilities.
However, until Apple fulfills its commitment to further invest in Indonesian facilities, including the establishment of local Apple Academies for R&D, the future of the iPhone new in the Indonesian market remains in limbo.
Hello!
Good cheer to all on this beautiful day!!!!!
